CAIRS continually operates in strict compliance with enacted state laws regarding sign language interpreters. Please note the legislated interpreter eligibility requirements below for working with CAIRS in Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota, as follows:
ILLINOIS
Provision of current Illinois license
[From Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Commission (IDHHC)]
INDIANA
Provision of current Indiana Interpreter
Certification Program documentation
[From the Indiana Family and Social
Services Administration (FSSA)]
MINNESOTA
Provision of current Minnesota Registry of
Interpreters for the Deaf Registration
documentation
[From the Minnesota Department of Human
Services (MDHS)]
In addition, ALL interpreters must review and complete the CAIRS Freelance Interpreter Handbook, prior to being eligible for assignments. CAIRS policy requires that all interpreters strictly follow the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
Please note that for Illinois interpreters who are still waiting to receive their license, CAIRS may request a copy of the actual licensure application for documentation purposes. Thank you!
