At CAIRS, all our interpreters in Illinois possess an active State license, as required by the Interpreters for the Deaf Licensing Act of 2007. In Indiana, all our interpreters are professionally certified by the State's Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). CAIRS interpreters must also strictly abide by the nationally recognized NAD-RID Code of Professional.
To assist our clients in understanding the profession of American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting for the benefit of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing consumer, this area presents a selection of standard practice papers as published by the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
